Nishkalanka School is situated in a an enviourmental friendly greenery campus amidst a sprawling green landscaped terrain dotted with tree lined walkways, it’s a campus is very specious the ground is divided for sports and other activities such as art & Craft, Exhibition and Annual day Programme.
The Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King is an indigenous congregation founded by Ms. Bridget Sequeirafrom Goa and Msgr. SalesiusLemmens, a Dutch. Who was the first Ecclesiastical Superior of the mission of Sind and Baluchistan.
It was founded in Karachi in 1937, before the partition of India and Pakistan.
The Congregation spread slowly in 1946, the first house was opened in the Archdiocese of Goa In the year 1969 the late Bishop Longinus Pereira of Bombay (Now Mumbai) invited the congregation, to start the house in Vasai, Mainly to take care of Leprosy patients by systematic approach of “Survey education and treatment programme” This treatment programmeis carried out till this day. The Parish of Papdyoffered a piece of land opposite the UmelaFatakalong side the main road to Vasai station. Nishkalankaconvent is built on this spot.
Although Leprosy is virtually eradicated, the trained nurse nun attends patients with all other skin Diseases in our dispensary with the help of Dr. Gawde the skin specialist who visits the clinic once a week On a voluntary basis. Also we have an ayurvedic Dr. Ms. Chelsea goes attending the clinic every evening. People from the locality do avail this opportunity the premises also have few senior citizens who are Cared for. Nishkalnka also runs a small class of tiny tots. The sisters also help in the church activities.
They Bring succor to the sick and disabled by their visit to the homes and hospitals.
Today we have few senior citizens who have no one to care for them. Either they are unmarried or childless couples or left alone after a death of a family member or the inability of the children to care for them, due to family disputes or migration In search of job. Also we have provided a hostel facility to 10 poor girls who need education to be empowered to be self sufficient.
In the convent of Nishkalankawe are four religious’ sisters, a tuition teacher especially for the hostilities, to help us etc. Today the nuns are running a dispensary for all the skin diseases, care to the few senior citizens and a small class
The House System promotes healthy competition in studies, sports and extracurricular activities for the all round development of the students.
